Time for a dance-off! Netflix has rounded out the cast of Lena Khan’s film “Best of the Best,” set in the world of competitive Bollywood dance.
Chaneil Kular (“Sex Education”), Ankur Rathee (“Four More Shots Please,” “Shehzada”), Shreya Navile (“Taish,” “Parampara”), Becky Alex, Nihar Duvvuri (“John Proctor Is The Villain”), Nico Greetham (“The Prom”), Amryn Khurana (“Legends”), Tanishq Joshi, Lilly Singh (“The Muppets Mayhem”), Sasha Bhasin (“XO Kitty,” “The Pitt”), Janina Gavankar (“Big Sky,” “Borderlands”) and Saara Chaudry (“The Muppets Mayhem”) join the ensemble cast alongside previously announced stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Priyanka Kedia and Hasan Minhaj.
The film follows two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, who join their college’s competitive Bollywood dance team only to discover that the road to winning the national championship is far more raucous and cutthroat than they ever imagined.

Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam penned the script for “Best of the Best, and produce the film for 186K films alongside Jonathan Eirich for Rideback. Executive producers are Ryan Halprin for Rideback and Ellen Schwartz.
On many college campuses, dance teams have emerged as spaces for South Asian community building and cultural connection. The dance competition circuit brings teams from different parts of the country together to showcase their talents and perform to determine who is, as the film’s title puts it, “Best of the Best.” The story aims to celebrate the vibrancy of Bollywood Fusion Dance, the growing pains of young adulthood and the lasting power of friendship.
