As anticipation builds for Mirzapur: The Movie and the expected fourth season of the popular franchise, actor Shweta Tripathi has reflected on the impact the series has had on her career and her attachment to the character of Golu Gupta. Over the years, Mirzapur has emerged as one of the most successful streaming franchises in India. With its ensemble cast and memorable characters, the series has built a loyal audience. The franchise is now set to expand to cinemas with Mirzapur: The Movie, scheduled for a theatrical release on September 4, 2026.

Speaking about the show’s journey and the response it has received from audiences, Shweta said the franchise has given its team much more than professional success. “Mirzapur is pure love for us, and Golu is, of course, incredibly special. With all these seasons, it’s almost going to be a decade now. Not only have we earned money from it, but we have earned so much more, the love, respect and connection,” she said.

The actor also spoke about the close bonds formed during the making of the series. “The cast and crew have become family. We have shared so much together,” she added.

Shweta further discussed her character Golu, who has undergone a significant transformation since the first season. According to the actor, Golu’s resilience is what makes her stand out. “Golu is super special. I love playing her. When we talk about archetypes, I think Golu is a warrior. She is a girl who continues to behave with dignity even in the most difficult circumstances,” she said.

She also noted that the experiences faced by the character throughout the series have changed her profoundly. “The things she witnessed changed her completely, and that is deeply unfortunate,” Shweta remarked.

Reflecting on the emotional demands of portraying Golu, the actor revealed that some phases of the character’s journey were particularly intense. “Especially in Seasons 2 and 3, I went into a deep rabbit hole and it took me time to come out of it. But I still love her so much,” she said. Shweta concluded by expressing her enthusiasm about returning to the world of Mirzapur. “I cannot wait for Season 4. Fingers crossed. I’m praying for it. I am so excited. I can’t wait to meet Golu again,” she said.

Mirzapur: The Movie is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. The film is directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. It is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 4, 2026.
