National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has officially wrapped the shoot of his upcoming film The Wives, marking another addition to his filmography known for its socially rooted and realistic storytelling. Celebrated for films such as Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, Heroine, Traffic Signal and Babli Bouncer, Bhandarkar once again turns his lens towards the lesser-seen realities behind the glamour of the Hindi film industry.

The Wives features a strong ensemble cast comprising Sonali Kulkarni, Mouni Roy, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa and Freddy Daruvala. The film is set to explore the emotional and psychological worlds that exist behind the public image of Bollywood stars, focusing on the lives of those who remain away from the spotlight yet are deeply affected by it.
With this project, Bhandarkar revisits familiar thematic territory—examining ambition, relationships, power dynamics and emotional vulnerabilities—while shifting the narrative focus to the personal lives of star spouses. Known for his unfiltered portrayal of social ecosystems, the filmmaker aims to present a story that reflects the pressures of image, success and survival in an industry driven by perception.
Talking about the film, Madhur Bhandarkar shared, “The Wives is a story that looks beyond the spotlight and into the personal lives that are often overshadowed by fame. It explores relationships, ambition, insecurity and emotional survival in a world driven by image and success. I wanted to tell this story with honesty and sensitivity, and I’m grateful to my cast and crew for bringing so much authenticity to the screen.”

Produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and PJ Motion Pictures, The Wives marks Madhur Bhandarkar’s second collaboration with Pranav Jain after India Lockdown, which received appreciation for its timely subject and realistic narrative. With the shoot now completed, the film is expected to move into post-production, building anticipation among audiences who follow Bhandarkar’s brand of content-driven cinema.
