The most expensive film of the 90s

The film’s story revolves around a young man named Ali, disguised as Ajooba, who is always ready to help the people of the kingdom of Baharistan. Ajooba fights to stop the atrocities taking place in his kingdom. The makers spent a huge amount of money on this film, making it one of the most expensive films in Bollywood at the time of its release. However, upon its release, the film received a lukewarm response and flopped.

Mega flop at the box office

“Ajooba” cost ₹8 crore to make. However, it only grossed ₹3.5 crore in India. This was a time when Amitabh Bachchan’s films were consistently failing. Russian actress Ariadna Shengelaya was also cast in this film, marking her Bollywood debut. However, the film flopped so badly that Ariadna stopped working in Bollywood films. After “Ajooba,” Ariadna Shengelaya did not appear in any Indian films.
