The highly anticipated film of Ranveer Singh, ‘Dhurandhar,’ is all set to release on 5th December 2025, Friday. This is a big moment, as it also marks Ranveer Singh’s comeback on the big screen after a two-year hiatus. With the buzz surrounding it, the film has already broken records for something that no other Bollywood film has achieved in nearly two decades. The film has created history for having the longest runtime in the last 17 years.
Longest Bollywood film since ‘Jodhaa Akbar’
As per reports, ‘Dhurandhar’ has now joined the list of Bollywood’s longest films, breaking a record held for 17 years after Ashutosh Gowariker-directed ‘Jodhaa Akbar,’ which was released in 2008. This 2008 epic was considered one of the lengthiest cinematic releases. However, now, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ has surpassed it by one full minute. While Jodha Akbar was 3 hours 33 minutes, ‘Dhurandhar’ clocks in at 214 minutes, which is 3 hours 34 minutes.
The star-studded cast adds to the anticipation
Besides marking Ranveer’s comeback after 2 years and having the longest runtime in 17 years, this film is also creating a buzz for its powerhouse lineup of actors. Besides Ranveer Singh, the cast features Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. This power-packed star cast has only intensified the excitement.
CBFC certifies the film with an ‘A’ rating.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted ‘Dhurandhar’ an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate, which marks the first ‘A’-rated film of Ranveer Singh’s career. Before certification, the board instructed several edits.
As per the report, the CBFC suggested the following changes:
- Some highly violent visuals in the beginning were altered
- A few intense shots in the second half were removed
- One character’s name was instructed to be changed
- A profanity was muted
- An anti-drug disclaimer was added to scenes involving drug use
However, despite these changes, the length of the film remains untouched.
Legal concerns resolved before release
Before the release, a legal plea was filed by the late Major Mohit Sharma’s parents expressing concern that the story resembled events from their son’s life. Director Aditya Dhar clarified that the movie is a work of fiction, after which the CBFC also confirmed that the film is fictional; therefore, it has no direct relation to Major Sharma’s life.
