Speaking with Filmfare, Simran said, “A lot of times, I have refused to do a Hindi film because I don’t connect with the people there. It feels like they have not seen the work we have done down South or the legacy that actors carry before coming here. It bothers me. There is a lack of respect. I have given more than half of my life to cinema, and despite that, if I don’t receive respect, it hurts. It makes no sense.”

The actress further stated that people often bargain over accommodation arrangements and limit the number of staff members who can travel with her. She added, “They even bargain on hotels and tickets,” and said that such things bothered her deeply, though nobody openly spoke about them. She also mentioned that there is a hierarchy in the industry, which sometimes makes her not feel like working and leaves her feeling hurt.

However, while criticizing certain aspects of Bollywood, the Mahaan actress also shared positive experiences with some production houses and gave a shout-out to Om Changani, who backed Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Gabru. Moreover, she praised the team of Gulmohar for never making her feel out of place during filming.

Simran’s work front

Simran was last seen in Tourist Family alongside Sasikumar. Directed by With Love fame Abishan Jeevinth, the film follows a Sri Lankan Tamil family who illegally immigrate to India following Sri Lanka’s economic crisis and attempt to build a better life while hiding from law enforcement authorities.

The actress also made a cameo appearance in Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly last year, marking the duo’s onscreen reunion after several years.

Looking ahead, Simran will next appear alongside Sunny Deol in Gabru, directed by Shashank Udapurkar.
